About Me

Games are my biggest passion. That said you basically know the most important thing about me, but let me tell you how it came to that.

I was fortunate to grow up in a really gaming friendly environment, playing board-games with my family on a regular basis. Every once in a while we altered the rules of a certain game to make it suit our needs and play-style better or to create more diversity to the games we had at our hands. Thus I was introduced to the creation of games and rule-sets from a  very early age. Also I was introduced to video games as the SNES hit the german market back in 1992.

As I grew older and the games that where released became more complex, I realized that most of them can´t hold up to my expectations towards them. I´m not speaking about the visual aspect, but of the way they where played. So I began to analyze what it was I didn’t like about them and came up with solutions on how someone could enhance the experience players would have with these games. Soon I wasn’t able anymore to not constantly think about the design of that specific game I was playing and how to alter the rules or add features that would enrich ones experience or lose others that simply made no sense in having them. This was pretty much the moment I decided to not just sit there and play games but to actually help improving them and to make games myself in the future.

In 2011 I started my Digital Media – “Animation & Game” studies at the University of applied sciences Darmstadt, developing several games with my fellow students, learning a lot about game design, 3D art and programming as well as project management and the production pipeline in general. I graduated in 2014 with my bachelor degree and am looking forward to join a studio to apply my know how  to big projects and learn from the pros.

My name is Markus, nice to meet you.
